The challenge

Every minute in the stockroom is a minute off the shop floor

Retail stockrooms are often the smallest, most awkward room in the tenancy — and the one staff visit most. When cartons are piled on the floor, a two-minute replenishment becomes ten, a customer waits for a size that is "somewhere at the back", and stock goes missing.

The right racking turns a stockroom into a second, organised shop: every product line has a labelled home, the fastest sellers sit nearest the door, and a whole delivery can be put away in one pass. For showrooms and e-commerce stores that also pick online orders, our logistics racking principles apply.

How we plan a stockroom

Four steps to a stockroom that runs itself

  1. Measure the cartons

Shelf depth and spacing come from your actual boxes, not a catalogue default.

  2. Mirror the shop floor

Departments sit in the same order as the store, so staff find stock without thinking.

  3. Fast sellers by the door

Top sellers between knee and shoulder height, closest to the shop.

  4. Install after closing

Night or early-morning installation, with mall permits and loading bay booked.

Questions

Retail racking questions

What depth of rack is best for a retail stockroom?

Measure your most common carton and add a few centimetres. Fashion and accessories usually sit well on 40–50cm shelves; footwear boxes, homeware and electronics often need 50–60cm. The boltless rack comes in all three depths.

Can you install racks in a mall unit after closing?

Yes. Mall management usually requires work and deliveries outside trading hours, through the service corridor and loading bay, often with a permit booked in advance. Tell us the mall and the unit, and we will plan the night or early-morning installation with you. See our delivery policy for what to arrange.

How do I organise a small shop stockroom?

Mirror the shop floor: group stock by department in the same order as the store, label every bay, and keep the fastest sellers nearest the door to the shop. Our guide to retail stockroom racking walks through a simple system.

Do you supply racks for multiple outlets?

Yes. Retailers with several outlets often standardise one rack size across every store so stock, labels and staff training are identical. Send us each outlet's floor plan through the quote form and we will quote them together.

Are the racks strong enough for beverage or homeware stock?

Bottled drinks and ceramics are heavier than they look. Up to 200kg per shelf, the boltless rack is fine; for full cartons of beverages stacked high, choose the 400kg warehouse rack.
